Governor Ifeanyi Okwa holds in high value the sacred mandate given to him by the entire people of Delta State and hence, has ensured that for the past six years, the interests of the citizens of the State were given priority in the business of governance.
Immediate past Chief of Staff to the Governor, Olorogun David Edevbie disclosed this in a farewell message in which he expressed his gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve in that capacity for the past two years.
He said having served under His Excellency, Governor Okowa first as Commissioner of Finance for four years and then as Chief of Staff to the governor for two years, he in concert with other State officials under the supervision of Governor Okowa strove to build a Stronger Delta and though the tasks were challenging as could be expected of such critical offices of State, “I never took the opportunities for granted”.
Edevbie said he was guided by a great sense of responsibility in executing his mandates in order not to betray the trust and confidence Governor Okowa had in him, adding that he witnessed from the front row, how Governor Okowa strived to ensure that the interests of Deltans were utmost in the heart of every State official and that effort birthed significant fruits in the giant development strides of the State for the past six years.
As a humble public servant, Olorogun David Edevbie said he has been driven by a strong desire to serve and positively impact on the lives of people and that he was still ever willing and ready to contribute his quota to the service of humanity, the good people of Delta State and Nigeria at large.
“God willing, I am sure there will be further opportunities for me to do so” Edevbie said and thanked the PDP and Governor Okowa for entrusting him with one of the most important offices in Delta State, Chief of Staff, and asked for God’s favour and wisdom to enable Governor Okowa navigate the next crucial phase of his final gubernatorial term.
Meanwhile, Deltans in their numbers have reacted to the farewell message in a stream of congratulatory and goodwill messages for an impactful service to the State and prayers for opportunities for Edevbie to serve in higher capacity.
Obokor Ejeata Jnr in his reaction thanked Governor Okowa for giving Edevbie the opportunity to serve and remarked that Edevbie’s services have been worthwhile. “May God reward you with 2023 as the governor of Delta State”. He prayed. Okpe FG Felix said, “You have served with humility and I know from the Bible that God rewards the humble and God will surely reward you with number one seat of power come 2023.”
