The Okaighele, Amb Etionsa Ohienegbeomwanegiabu Ighodaro and elders of the village.

elders, Okaighele, and people of Iyowa village, Ovia-North-East Local Government Area of Edo State have maintained, that their allegations against one of their own, Samson Edeararo Obaze and Co., are true.

Obaze was said to have denied the allegations leveled against him by his people on the State owned television, Edo Broadcasting Service, (EBS).

In reaction, the Okaighele, Amb. Etionsa Ohienegbeomwanegiabu

Ighodaro, and his people reiterated what happened.

The elders and youths had appealed to the Benin Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II, Edo State Government and all relevant authorities to come rescue them from continued harassment and threat to their life by Samson Edeararo Obaze and Co.

The people had enjoyed relative peace thereafter until recently, Samson Edeararo Obaze, Reuben Omoriyekemwen Owie, Adams Onaiwu, Philip Obaze and gang in a news report on the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) Television denied all the havoc they had done in the village, they said.

The Okaighele said it was true that on Saturday, 6 April, 2021 strange faces who were discovered to be acting on the directive of Samson Edeararo Obaze, came to Iyowa Village with intent to wreak havoc.

They were apprehended, and on further probing, with the aid of Obaze’s son: Famous, arms and ammunition were discovered in his (Samson Edeararo Obaze’s House).

“This happened in the presence of the Police, Vigilante operatives; they are witness.”

The Okaighele insisting trueness of the incident, appealed that the Benin Monarch, Edo State Government and even the security agencies should call Samson Obaze and his son; Famous for questioning: as regards the true owner of the weapons and the house in which they were found.

He said Obaze does not live in Iyowa as other members of his gang.

The Okaighele denied he never led any uprising to chase Samson Edeararo Obaze out of the Village, as he claimed.

Members of the Council of Elders, Joseph Osamwenho, and Aghamioghogho Igbinawahia affirmed narration of the Okaighele.

They told Journalists that Samson Edeararo Obaze after the death of the past Odionwere, imposed himself in the saddle without the due process of his presentation to the Oba by people of Iyowa and approval.

This is even when it is not three years after the passing of the late Odionwere, as stipulated by the native law and custom, and against the directive of the Oba, HRM Ewuare II.

Secretary of the village, elder F.O.N. Igbinawahia further reacting, said the denial of Samson Edeararo Obaze of arms and ammunition found in his house and his son, Famous involvement was absurd.

House said to be owned by Samson Edeararo Obaze where arms and ammunition were found

“The house where the guns were found belongs to Samson Edeararo Obaze, and he doesn’t live here.

“On the said day, he came to the village with this group of Youths who we thought were Vigilantes; we didn’t know that they were on a sinister mission. But thank God, they were unable to execute it.”

“They were arrested by the Police and confessed to having arms and ammunition hidden in Samson Edeararo Obaze’s house in Iyowa.

“His son; Famous Obaze was the one who came with the keys to open the door, led the security operatives in to where the guns were found.

“So why is he saying it is the Okaighele and the people of Iyowa that are disturbing him? He doesn’t live here, from Benin, he mobilizes thugs to come distabilize the Village here.”

Osahen Ogowe Eguavoen, ‘Oyunkpo’ of Iyowa village, corroborated narration of all the earlier speakers.

The Okaighele, elders and entire people of the village pleads the Oba HRM Ewuare II, Edo State Government, and all relevant authorities to urgently come to their rescue before they are plunged into consuming crisis.

Efforts made to reach Samson Edeararo Obaze and others for reaction as at the time of filing this report yesterday, was not successful.
