KOKO-Staff of Warri North Local Government Council smiled home and celebrated last week when the backlog of salary arrears owed them was paid in full to the month of October, 2017.

The joy of the staff which knew no bounds had them saying that by clearing of the salary arrears their spirits and morale have been boosted and that it increases their capacity to do more for the Council.

Explaining the possibility of the payment to staff of the council, the Acting Head of the Council and Head of Personnel Management, Mr Douglas Akambe, stated that the decision to pay the backlog of salary arrears was unanimously reached between the former political office holders and the administrative office holders of the council.

Mr Akambe also stated that though funds were not readily available at the time of the hand-over, the former Chairman of the Council, Hon. Eyituoyor Francis Maku made sure that every arrangement was tidied up for the payment.

According to him, the former Council boss made sure that the payment of staff salary was given priority attention whenever allocation for the Council was available.

Mr Akambe however added that though the three months backlogs were not cleared simultaneously, he said that all payments were completed as at November 6, 2017.

Meanwhile, other local governments in the state are hoping and appealing for the government to make them happy during the yuletide season
