Delta State Online Publishers’ Forum has called of the Okowa led administration to call his agents and officials to order and stop issuing messages of threat to life to members of the forum.

The call is sequel to a threat allegedly issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Delta State, Mr Charles Aniagu to a member of the forum, Mr Albert Ograka, Publisher of Blanknews Online.

DOPF’s call was contained in a statement issued on behalf of the forum and signed by the forum secretary, Mr Shedrack  Onitsha.

According to the statement, the said Mr Ograka did a story related to alleged fraud in the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, which the government official claim is false and without reaching to the leadership of the forum to discuss the issue resorted to issuing threats to the life of the Publisher.

DOPF said the body has carried out its duty as watch dog of the society responsibly by bridging the gap between the State government and its citizens as well as holding government accountable to the people and was therefore taken aback at the alleged behavior of the CPS issuing threats to one of its members when he ordered that the story be pulled down otherwise he would direct the police and men of the Department of State Services to tackle the Publisher.

The statement said although the CPS and the Executive Assistant to the governor, Directorate of Orientation, Mr Eugene Uzum have denied issuing the threats and assured that the State government was not after any journalist, the call became necessary to keep the public in the know that should any harm come the way of Mr Ograka or any member of his family, the state government would be held responsible.
