Stop parading yourself as Board chairman or else… Edo COSON warns Efe Omorogbe
Abavo Kingsley, Benin
Copy Right Society of Nigeria (COSON) Edo State chapter, on Monday in Benin, the State capital warned Efe Omorogbe to stop parading himself as chairman governing Board of the body or face unpleasant consequences.
Firing the warning during a press briefing the group said that it had earlier in a letter sent to Omorogbe expressed its disappointment in his claim.
Hence it advised that he should not allow himself to be used as instrument of destabilization of the group but he would not listen.
On December 7, 2017 Omorogbe allegedly led a coup to remove Chief Tony Okoroji as chairman Governing Board of COSON.
COSON congress had on the December 19, 2017 in Lagos opposed and nullified what it termed kangaroo appointment of Omorogbe as chairman of its Board, the Edo chapter said.
“We are not surprised that such treatment of outright rejection was meted out to you by COSON members across Nigeria.
“Behind this, is your checkered attitude of arrogance which has resulted in your total disconnect with the creative community even in Edo State, the State of your birth.
“This is to the extent that the presence, support and contribution of the likes of Chief Tony Okoroji, a detribalized Nigerian, is more felt by us in Edo State.
“Even though you are our son, your contribution is nowhere to be seen.
“We are shocked that despite our clear democratic choice of Chief Tony Okoroji as COSON Chairman at the said EGM chaired by our very own internationally respected music icon, Prof (sir) Victor Uwaifo MON JP, you have mischievously and frequently continued to parade yourself as Chairman of COSON.”
The group threatened that should Omorogbe fail to stop parading himself as chairman COSON governing Board, it would not hesitate to drag him before the Benin Monarch Oba Ewuare II.
Omorogbe was said to have been appointed as Chairman COSON governing Board by Attorney-general of the federation, Abubakar Malami last December.
“But according to the COSON constitution it is its national congress that ratify decisions of the Board.
“The congress is the highest deciding body which has the power to confirm, alter, and ratify any decision of the Board before it comes into effect.
“So on the 19 day of December 2017, the congress met in Lagos, and upturned the appointment made by the Attorney – general and Tony Okoroji was re – elected for a second term in office,” Barr. Patrick Ishiekwene, legal adviser to COSON .
