Senate leadership: APC reaffirms support for Omo-Agege
By Jon Egie
APC Delta central has called on members of the public especially the Urhobo people to discountenance the purported endorsement of HE Senator-elect, Orji Uzor Kalu for the the seat of Deputy Senate President in the 9th senate of the National Assembly by a group known as Urhobo Political Group.
At a press briefing held at the PTI Conference Centre, Effurun; Sunday, June 2; Olorogun Adelabu Bodjor who is the Chairman of APC in Delta central said the action of the group was dishonourable as it chose to support Orji Kalu from Imo state in deference to Senator Ovie Om-Agege an Urhobo son.
He recalled that in Feb 23, the Urhobo people demonstrated their love for Omo-Agege by voting overwhelmingly for him to be re-elected into the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and hence, became a ranking senator.
“It is therefore mischievous and preposterous for a handful of persons, for any reason to work against the interest of the generality of Urhobo people.
“We, the Urhobo people unequivocally declare that we shall not let them succeed in their effort to work against their own brother.
“We state expressly that the official position of the Urhobo people is that we are solidly behind Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on his bid for the Deputy Senate President.” Olorogun Bodjor said.
