Coordinator of Nigeria Female President Initiative, Comrade Felix Akpoyibo has described the Senate suspension of Senator Ovie Omo Agege as illegal.
Reacting to the suspension slammed on the Urhobo Senator by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Comrade Akpoyibo said since the Urhobo Senator had earlier served the Senate Committee on Ethics a Court Order restraining the Senate from such action, it was therefore prejudicial for the Senate to suspend Sen Omo Agege.
He pointed out that the Senate of the FRN who are prime lawmakers should not be seen as lawbreakers and urged the Senate, as a matter of urgency, to withdraw the suspension on Omo Agege as the Urhobo lawmaker has right to voice his opinion, even at the Senate.
He wondered why Senator Dino Melaye with all his vociferous vituperations at the floor of the Senate has escaped the Senate hammer and reasoned that the Senate action against Omo Agege was selective and vindictive.
“The action confirms the allegation by the Urhobo Senator that the Senate targets President Muhammadu Buhari in its proceeding in respect of the sequence of 2019 election debacle and hence I am calling on The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to resign if he fails to move the Senate to rescind its decision on Senator Ovie Omo Ageege.” He said
