Staff of winning school collecting the prize award of N7 million

The finals of Seplat Pearls Quiz competition took place at unity Hall, Government House Asaba with three schools at the finals. The Schools were Lawrence Prentice Academy, Asaba, Presentation Girls School, Edo State and University Presentation Secondary School, Edo State.

It is the practice of Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc to bring together hundreds of secondary schools from Edo and Delta States at its annual Pearls Quiz competition which is in its seventh year.

The pearls competition for 2018 started on Monday, October 8, 2018.

At the grand finale on Thursday 26th October 2018, Presentation Girls School, Edo State came out First and took home the N7 Million Star prize which will be used to execute a project in their school. The first prize winning students were given N100, 000 each.

Lawrence Prentice Academy, Asaba came out Second and won N3 Million for a project in their school while each of the students got N75, 000.

The third position went to University Presentation Secondary School, Edo State, who got N1Million for school project while the students that represented them went home with N50, 000.

The executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in his address at the occasion, thanked Seplat for the initiative that has continually brought students together in healthy competition.

Also speaking at the event, Seplat CEO, Mr. Austin Avuru, harped on the positive impact the pearls Quiz competition has had on schools in Delta and Edo States. He pointed out that Seplat is committed to the pearls Quiz competition annually to promote academic excellence and healthy competition while motivating and encouraging the spirit of teamwork.

Mr. Avuru stated that since the inception of the pearls Quiz, 51 students have been awarded scholarships, 15 schools have been beneficiaries of projects and 4 winning schools have been awarded brand new 16- seater Toyota Hiace buses.

Highlights of the event was the presentation of various prizes to the Schools.
