Poll Day killings in Sapele is unacceptable, PDP kicks

The PDP in Sapele LGA has said the brutal killing of two of its members: Messrs Michael Chubuike and Jeffrey Otevane, is not acceptable.
A press statement signed by the party chairman in the LGA, Hon Dr D.O. Oghenegueke said the deceased were at unit 15 ward 9 to exercise their civic responsibility when they were attacked by gunmen.
“Between 13 hours and 14 hours of Feb 23, at the said unit, gunmen stormed and shot sporadically at voters, killing two of our party members, injuring several others as the voters scampered for safety. They also went further to destroy voting materials. This dastardly act is unacceptable and we condemn it in its entirety”. The statement said.
He called on the relevant authorities to immediately take necessary action to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the PDP Chieftains in Sapele comprising of the party chairman, Hon Anirah, Hon Julius Egbedi, Hon Austin Ayemidejor, Hon Chief Paulinus Akpeki have paid a condolence visit to the families of the deceased during which they asked the bereaved to be calm and await justice from the long arm of the law.
“God gives and God takes”, the delegation admonished the families and vowed that the party will neither forget the bereaved nor abandon them assuring that they will ensure that those involved in the killing of its members do not go scot free.
They said the deceased were not shot dead because they attempted to snatch ballot boxes as alleged but were crudely and ruthlessly murdered.
