PDP set to win Ughelli South council poll
By Jon Egie
All is now set for the PDP to deliver Dr Richard Kofi as the elected Executive Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Council in the Jan. 6, 2018 local polls.
Chairman of the Kofi Campaign Committee, Chief Samuel Oboramrohwoyere ( aka Sam the Tailor), said the coast was very clear for Kofi to sail home victorious.
The local government area which has three political blocs has been perfectly mapped out with PDP chieftains, stalwart and foot soldiers strategically positioned for tactical political maneuvering, dribble and score.
Having been successfully screened by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), Dr Richard Kofi enjoys buoyancy provided by the PDP that has already marshaled out its foot soldiers and election veterans for mosquito campaigns until the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa will officially flag off the campaign on Tuesday, Dec. 19 in Jeremi Town. The local campaign committee has also scheduled Dec. 12 for, ward- visitations prelude to the official flag off. The Committee is motivated by the enthusiasm that PDP is deeply rooted in Ughelli South and hence, PDP and Ughelli South are two sides of the same coin.
“We will have a smooth ride across the local government area” Sam the Tailor enthused.
For the three political blocs in the LG: Ughievwen, Olomu and Ewu, men and leaders of the PDP are on ground to ensure total victory for Dr Richard Kofi come Jan. 6.
At the Ughievwen axis, Chief A.P. Fovie, Dr Ideh, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, Prof Amos Utuama and Chief Ewenode among others are in position for action.
In Olomu, home front of the PDP candidate, leaders of the party among whom are Chief John Oguma, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Chief Alu, Chief Joe Unuame and the Omonemus are poised for action.
Perhaps, the most critical area to consider in the election battle to secure victory for the PDP is the Ewu axis of the LGA. The Ewu wards parade the immediate past chairman of the council, Chief Paul Etaga, Chief Anderson, Chief Abel Edijala, Chief Samuel Buluku, Chief Dugu Mokpo, Chief Edojakwa Jonathan; ready for the show.
The Omosomo end of the Ewu which terrain is riverine and where Sokoto votes are traditionally turned in, is being manned by one time Leader of the Ughelli South Legislative Arm, Hon Lucky Avweromre, Chief Samuel Oboramrohwoyere, Barr Ewhebare, Peter Hare, Luke Aguemuria, Beris Adogbo, Bourdelion Odafe and Chief Isaac Win.
It is interesting to note that Ewu ward 3 where the APC candidate for the local polls, Mr Francis Aguonigho hails from also has the immediate younger brother of the APC flag bearer contesting for a Councilor seat on the platform of the PDP in the LG.
Unconfirmed report has it that the APC which candidate is from the volatile riverine area of Ewu in the local government area plans to use thugs to violently hijack election materials and manipulate a victory for its flag bearer. But the Kofi Campaign Committee Chairman dismissed the rumour as frivolous and rather than being nervous called for a free and fair election. He beckoned on Mr Francis Aguonigho to return back to his home party, the PDP ; warning that Mr Aguonigho knew the political weight of the PDP before he left the party and the obvious result of the contest. He also called on one David Edonor and others who are in the trail track of the APC flag bearer to retrace their steps and rejoin the PDP train because they know that Ughelli South is PDP. Mr Aguonigho was the immediate past chairman of the PDP in Ughelli South.
Sam the Tailor called on the people of Ughelli South to come out enmasse’ on Jan 6, 2018 to vote Dr Richard Kofi as Chairman of Council promising that Kofi will run an open door and listening administration laded with transparency and positive impact on the grassroots.
“The coming of Kofi as a candidate was a boost to the PDP. He is popular, has integrity and a good name. He is a boy of good character and even APC members will vote for the PDP because of him. As a medical doctor, Kofi has been of immense help to people of Ughelli South and his personality make the work for Jan 6 easy for the PDP” Sam the Tailor said.
