House masters of various primary schools in Ughelli North LGA are keen on the bid to secure the consent of Comrade Voke Oshasha to be patron of their houses during inter house athletic sports competition.

They believe that once Comrade Voke Oshasha patrons a house, such a house stands the chance of coming top in the athletic competition and hence, he has been thw bride of primary school sports in Ughelli.

At Oharisi Model Primary School, Ughelli where he stood as patron, his house, the Red House came top of the athletic competition. The same story was told in Afiesere primary school where he sponsored the Red House which also came top in the competition.

This feat has no doubt engendered the management of Red House in Ogelle primary school, Ughelli to request Comrade Voke Oshasha to be the patron of the Red House in the school’s inter house athletic sports competition scheduled to hold on Thursday, March 31 at the school playground, an offer which the bride of primary school sports has graciously accepted.

Speaking with our reporter, Comrade Voke Oshasha said his enthusiasm to be committed to primary schools sports sponsorship is born out of the need to support the young ones in Ughelli.

He said as a son of the soil, in spite of his wide global travels, it is only proper for him to contribute his little quota to the development of sports in the area, at least, within the limits of his resources. He believed that it would be out of place to expect non-indigenes to play the role whereas he has the resources to do so.

“These children are the leaders of tomorrow and they need encouragement. My commitment to this venture is a sacrifice for the future of the children and I believe God will pay me back”.

He promised to continue to contribute to the growth and development of primary school sports in the LGA any time he is offered the opportunity to do so and advised the school teachers to give their best to the pupils so that they could attain the height of their potentials.

During a momentous reception held in honour of the patron, members of Red House, teachers and the management of Oharisi primary school on Tuesday, March 22 expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the generousity, encouragement and commitment of Comrade Voke Oshasha to the success of the school’s inter house athletic competition held recently.

Comrade Oshsha used the opportunity to donate two desk top to the school to aid the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
