The Minister of Petroleum Resources,

Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke

Ministry of Petroleum Resources,

Honourable Minister,

We write first of all to commend our dynamic daughter, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Honourable Minister Petroleum for her giant strides in the Oil and Gas sector of the economy since she came on board. We are proud of you for not disappointing the Nigerian people in general and your very people from the oil-rich Niger Delta Region in particular.

But we have come to the realization that you cannot please everybody, no matter how you tried and this is why we have taken it upon ourselves to write you this open letter.

We have been made to understand that the Honourable Minister of Petroleum is not holding regular board meetings and that this is affecting the Oil and Gas sector of the economy badly.

Our investigation has shown that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in particular and the Oil Companies in general are not happy with the Minister over her alleged failure to hold board meetings. If this allegation is true, we want to implore the respected and hardworking Minister of Petroleum on the urgent need to hold regular board meetings on technical issues. We know that the Honourable Minister of Petroleum is very capable and this is why we will continue to give her our support.

The Honourable Minister of Petroleum should consider the allegation against her of not holding regular board meetings and take urgent steps to put things right.

It is our sincere appeal to the Minister of Petroleum to call for board meeting on technical issues so as for her to approve the much needed projects for the oil companies, such as Shell, Agip, Chevron, Mobil, NNPC and others.

When projects are approved for the oil companies, the Nigerian people, especially the people of the oil-rich Niger Delta region will benefit greatly as money will circulate in the region and there will be reduction in joblessness and restiveness.

Honourable Minister of Petroleum, we believe in your capacity to deliver, hence we are imploring you to do the needful now for the betterment of the oil and gas sector of the Nigerian economy that you have piloted so diligently and to the admiration of many so far. Keep the flag flying as we are solidly behind you; but kindly act urgently to the issue that we have raised in this letter. It is for the interest of the Nation!

Long live Niger Delta Region,

Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria
