By Joe Aminah
As the announcement of the decamp of former House of Representative member Hon. Austin Ogbaburhon and a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Cairo Ojuigbo among others from PDP to the All Progressive Party (APC) continue to reverberate across the geo-political divide of the state, a leader of APC in Sapele, Honourable Moses Ogodo has observed that the development signifies palpable wind of change and gradual disintegration process of PDP in the State.
Moses Ogodo, who was the erstwhile Chairman, Sapele Okpe Community and once House of Assembly candidate under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and for the same position under the Alliance for Democracy (AD) while explaining that the yoke of the ruling party in Delta State has been broken by the defection of Dr. Ojuigbo, Chief Ogbaburhon and others from PDP, enjoined leaders of APC to extend an olive branch to woo notable politicians, in the likes of Chief Ned Nwoko and others to follow the new train of Zion to the promised land of Deltans.
He averred that the leadership of APC in Sapele and its environs is unwavering in its commitment to deliver the party and also to consolidate on its prospect of an overwhelming victory through vigorous campaigns to the nooks and crannies of the area, especially to aggrieved electorate and civil servants that have been agonizing from unpaid salaries and lack of infrastructures as a result of PDP misrule over the years.
By the crossing over of these PDP stalwarts to APC, Ogodo noted, is a clear sign that the end has come for PDP to be uprooted out of our dear State, as he called on APC leadership in the State, to avail itself with this opportunity in reconciling all seemingly aggrieved members and factions and to give equal chance to the old and new members to make their input towards a formidable, strong and virile party that will wrestle power from PDP in Delta, come 2019.
The APC leader, stated, it is right time for a total evaluation of APC as the only opposition party in Delta to take its pride of place and this, Ogodo observed, can only be done by ensuring that Chief Great Ogboru, Senator Omo-Agege and Chief Emerhor – Otega come together with one voice an objective of taking over the affairs of the state first, before other issues.
We in Sapele are fully prepared to convince the electorate and canvass with little effort for the party’s victory in Sapele and entire Urhobo land, considering in totality the poor performance of PDP over the past eighteen years and on the fact that Sapele was a foremost township rated as number three in the 60s in Nigeria, is presently suffering from infrastructural and socio-political neglect, adding, Sapele and entire Okpe-Urhobo are definitely going to sing a new song to herald APC to the government seat at Asaba, come 2019.
