Pa. Samson Egbon has emerged the true Odionwere (traditional Head) of Ogueka village, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo State after two years of struggle to re – claim the mandate, allegedly hijacked by one Pulley Osaretib, two years ago.

This follows a verdict in his favour by the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II N’ Ogidigan on Tuesday, July18.

The Monarch since ascension onto the throne has effectively used the instrumentality of the alternative dispute resolution and crisis management of his administration, to broker peace among his subjects which Pa. Egbon is one of the latest beneficiaries.

Pa. Egbon told our correspondent that he was supposed to be the authentic Odionwere of the village but was hand twisted by Pulley and his supporters.

Seeking justice, he dragged them before the monarch and supported by his chiefs, verdict was finally given in his favour as the true Odionwere of the Village.

Following the verdict, peace has been restored in the village and he is poised to using his new position of leadership to help the monarch actualize his dream and vision of taking the Edo nation to greater height of excellence.

The leadership tussles between him and Pulley began in 2015, he said.

Restoration of his mandate as Odionwere of Ogueka village Pa. Egbon asserts marks a new dawn of undeterred harmony among the people and expectation of unprecedented growth and development for everyone.

He appeals that it was time therefore to bury the hatchet and every well-meaning member of the Village to join him in the task ahead of working for the common good of all.

He expressed gratitude to the Monarch for the verdict which he said was a landmark and historical as he on behalf of Ogueka people pledged continued loyalty to the authority of the Oba.

One of the elders of the Village, Isaac Osayobo Iserhierhien in reaction, said the verdict was heartwarming and well received as it marks beginning of a new journey of hope and restoration for the people.

He adds, they were ready to be loyal to the authority and leadership of Pa. Egbon as Odionwere of Ogueka Village, and support his administration to enable growth and development which has since eluded them.

Efforts to reach Pulley for reaction were not successful as at the time of filing in this report weekend.
