This, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Hashimu S. Argungun stated while briefing the Media in Yenagoa.

According to him the INEC and the Security agencies met and agreed that the only Local Government Area, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area where election could not take place due to logistic problems and other few areas where the election could not hold are to take place on Sunday.

He further assured that all security agencies have their men on ground in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and other few places where elections could not take place on Saturday, and there would be restrictions of movement in the affected areas.

He posited that there are two commissioners of police, 2 Brigade Commander, 5 Battalion Commander and Deputy Commander of the NSCDC were already on ground to ensure safety of lives and property in the affected areas.

On reports of death, he said that nobody has been confirmed dead and charged anybody with purported dead persons to produce their corpses.

“The report that some people were killed cannot be confirmed as corpses of the purported dead persons cannot be traced and their particulars could not be obtained from any source. Information at my disposal is that there was no death in Southern Ijaw yesterday “he said.
