The PDP has said that there is no guarantee of a second term for Governor Ifeanyi  Okowa of Delta State, come 2019.

The Delta central senatorial district of the Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP, Hon Ramson Ikweki made the disclosure in an interview after inaugurating the ward chairmen of the faction in Ughelli North LGA, Thursday, Oct 6.

He said although Governor Ifeanyi Okowa remains a member of the PDP but there was no guarantee of automatic ticket for the governorship ambition of any politician in the fold of the PDP including Okowa in 2019 saying the only possible pass Okowa could have is his performance in office as governor.

He added that the proposed reconciliation of the Modu Sheriff and Markafi led factions of the PDP is a key to who would be the 2019 governorship flag bearer of the party in Delta State and stressed that the chances of Okowa emerging will depend on the overall evaluation of his performance in office as governor .

Speaking earlier, Hon Ramson Ikweki identified the newly inaugurated exco at the ward level as the authentic leadership of the party in the area.

He described Sen. Modu Sheriff as a visionary leader who has come to rescue the PDP from drowning.
He recalled how Sheriff was persuaded to join and rescue the PDP from its dying fit by elected Governors of the PDP who later turned around to attempt to humiliate him by constituting an illegal national caretaker committee.

According to him, the eventual reaction of Modu Sheriff to resist the action of the PDP elected governors has led the party into a stalemate with record legal victories in favour of the Modu Sheriff led faction and leaving the Markafi led faction of the PDP in despair.

Consequently, Modu Sheriff has directed the constitution and inauguration of the PDP faction led by him in all States, LGAs and wards across the country and “so long Sheriff remains the authentic chairman of the party, you are the authentic leadership of the party at the grassroots” he said

Responding on behalf of the ward chairmen, Mr Andrew Umonu accepted the task and promised to work and be loyal to the Modu Sheriff led faction of the PDP.

In a closing remark, the Delta State Auditor of the Modu Sheriff led faction, Mr Samuel Robinson charged the newly inaugurated ward chairmen in Ughelli North to be courageous and fear nothing.

He said the essence of the parallel exco was to sanitize the structure, spirit and philosophy of the PDP as birthed by its founding fathers.

He charged the ward chairmen to go to the streets and convert membership to the Modu Sheriff led faction of the PDP, especially, the members of the PDP who strayed to the APC where there is no nourishment.
