Igbinedion University gets new VC

A new Vice Chancellor has assumed duty at the nation’s premier private university, the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State. He is professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye.
Prof Ezemonye took over from Prof Eghosa Osaghae who presided over the institution for 14 years as Vice Chancellor.
Upon assumption of office, the new Vice Chancellor promised to sustain the developmental strides of the out gone VC and to work assiduously to move the university to greater heights in line with the vision of the founder, His Excellency, Chief ,Dr, Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin kingdom.
Prof Ezemonye is a renowned professor of Eco-toxicology and an Environmental Forensics in the department of Animal and Environmental Biology, University of Benin with over 30 years of experience in research and teaching.
A former Deputy Chancellor (Administration) at the University of Benin, Prof Ezemonye is currently a visiting professor to Lancaster University, UK, a pioneer Federal Director of the National Centre for Energy and Environment of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, National President of the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), a distinguished Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society (FNES), Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (FSESN) and Advisor, West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT).
The new VC has established university research linkages in Africa, Asia, Canada, UK and the US.
Prof Ezemonye is one of the Nigerian representatives on the World Energy Council ( WEC), UK Study team on Energy Resources and Policy Assessment.
He is married to Prof (Mrs.) Mary Nkiru Ezemonye and the marriage is blessed with four children.
