I will beat you and roll you in the mud, Okowa tells Ogboru
By Jon Egie
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has told Chief Great Ogboru, in particular, and any other member of the opposition party in Delta State, the APC, that he would beat them and roll them in the political mud of Delta State, come 2019.
Speaking during the occasion of presentation of flag to the PDP candidate for the Jan.6, 2018 council election in Ethiope East, Chief Mrs Faith Majemite in Isiokolo, Wednesday, Dec. 20; Gov Okowa said he was not afraid of 2019 and dared the opposition to come for him.
Unlike some of the political stalwarts and chieftains of the PDP who attempted Queen’s English in presenting their addresses of loyalty and assurances of support for the governor’s re-election in 2019, especially those who would say, “My names are”; Gov Okowa, for effective communication, chose to use Pidgin English to address the people of Ethiope East.
“I go beat them well, well and I go rub their body for potopoto” the governor said emphasizing the level of defeat and political humiliation he would meet to the opposition in the 2019 general election.
“When I have completed my second term in office as governor I will hand over power to a credible Urhobo man in 2023. I am a very experienced politician who has close and sustained touch with the grassroots. I am not like some of the opposition members who jump out during election period to contest governorship seat and after defeat go back to their cocoon. I will beat them thoroughly and hand over to the best Urhobo man in 2023 and I assure that those who have constantly been deceiving the people of Ethiope East will finally be disgraced by God.” Okowa said.
The presentation of flag to the PDP candidate in Ughelli North, Godwin Adode (Coach Tete) the previous day wore the garb of show of strength to intimidate the opposition, the APC, which has lately taken firm roots in the LGA and in clear defiance of Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the APC leader in Delta State, Hon Samuel Mariere told the governor that Evwreni the home of Emerhor which is the Mecca of APC will be won for the PDP.
Earlier, during the APC flag off event, Chief Felix Ekure, APC chairman for Ughelli North said the APC was set to end the 16 years misrule of the PDP and prove to Gov Okowa that Ughelli belongs to APC.
When the PDP train led by Gov Okowa hit Otujeremi in Ughelli South LGA they were greeted by heavy rainfall that almost marred the ceremony as proceedings were disrupted but successfully, Dr Richard Kofi received the flag from the party chairman, Barr Kingsley Esiso. It was said the APC invoked the rain to confront the PDP and mar the ceremony, which though, succeeded.
