Benin: It was a very big surprise when the members of Great Benin Movement, GBM, paid a courtesy visit to Iyasere of Benin kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe at his residence in GRA during the weekend to solicit for his support for the body .

Speaking during the visit, the Commander in Chief of Benin Empire military said, he was very happy to receive the GBM members in his house, he described the body as a gathering of gentlemen full of developmental and positive drives that will lead to achieving the huge desired respect more than as it was before in the Benin kingdom. He said Benin as a people have the most reverend and treasured tradition in the entire universe and as such the Binis are not strangers anywhere.

He lamented the  attitude  of unseriousness of some Bini people to hard work that was the original idiosyncrasy of the cradle of black civilization. He said, the I don’t care attitude is part what is making Binis experience lack of love even as it relates to their traditional norms and values.

“Our young Bini people no longer want to work, they opt for greener pasture abroad through Libya which is very bad, our belief and attitude to work must change as people”.

I was a house boy to a house boy in GRA, what does that mean? Simply put, I was staying with somebody who was a house boy. He was sleeping on the bad while I would be sleeping on the ground but today am the Iyasere of the greatest kingdom in the world.

Chief Igbe equally advised Bini parents to take their language very serious so that the upcoming generations can speak the language properly, a situation he described as worrisome and if not carefully managed could lead to language extinction. He said he would be available for any help to the body whenever he is called upon in any way that can move the body forward.

“You people should always speak our local dialect among yourselves when discussing so that those that don’t understand can lean, he added.

He told him that the body was formed out of the numerous burning desired and aims in bringing back the Benin of ancient times that was known for traditional and cultural values. He said GBM has come to put everything that concerns the Bini straight.

Meanwhile, the CG equally used the opportunity to read out some of the events and projects the body will be embarking on in the year 2018, amongst which include a day to be set aside to celebrate Benin Day which  will kick off upon the approval of the royal majesty, Oba Eware II the Oba of Benin. He thanked Chief Igbe for the way he has being helpful to the Binis both locally and internationally
