I am Contesting Again to Convince Nigerians that am not Afraid of Election – Ogboru

The unwavering DPP governorship aspirant for the April 16, 2011 election in Delta State, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru (aka the peoples general) has said that he is contesting the April 16, 2011 governorship election to tell Nigerians and the whole world that he is the people’s choice.
Chief Ogboru who was addressing thousands of party supporters at the Otor-Udu primary school in a campaign rally held on March 23, 2011 noted that even though his governorship re-run case is still at the tribunal, he has decided to contest again in order to convince Deltans and Nigerians that he is the people’s choice since 2003 till date. He said even those who claim to be the governor of the state knows they are not as he is the winner of that election.
Chief Ogboru who was accompanied by top shots of DPP and his running mate Chief Fidelis Tilije, charged his supporters not to relinquish their strive for good governance and change. He said it is so glaring that the DPP won the January 6, 2011 governorship re-run election and said, by God’s grace the PDP led government will be disgraced out of office even before the election date.
While commending the Udu people, Chief Ogboru noted that since he has been contesting for the governorship seat, he has never failed in Udu. He said it is a clear sign that Udu is his home. Recalling the 2007 election which he said did not hold, Chief Ogboru said, though it didn’t hold elsewhere but that of Udu holds.
Chief Ogboru called on party faithful to come out enmass to vote for the DPP and to also protect their votes. He promised that the DPP led government will transform the state if elected and will also make sure industries are provided. He also assured that, his administration will provide job opportunity for everyone while the mandate of Deltans will be in their hand.
On his part, the running mate to Chief Ogboru, Chief Fidelis Tilije said, it is time for Deltans to take their destiny in their hand. He urged the people not to be deceived with temporary money, but should think of their welfare and that those money were their own money which they have stolen.
In his welcome address, Chief Senator Dr. Fred Brume said, it is high time for Deltans to stand boldly and firmly to select the chaff from the wheat. He thanked all those that graced the rally and encouraged them to vote for better Delta which is DPP.
Highpoint of the campaign rally was the adoption of the senatorial candidate of the party, Rt. Hon. Akpor Pius Ewherido, his House of Representative counterpart, Chief (Hon.) Austin Ogbaburhon and Chief Keston Okoro, a candidate for the State House of Assembly by Chief Ogboru. The campaign was also spiced with cultural dancers from Benue State Udu kingdom and environs.
Other dignitaries present at the rally includes Nigerian foremost labour leader, Chief Frank Kokori, Engr. Eme Mukoro, Capt. Newman Akpore, Chief Richard Odibo, Chief Fred Brume, Chief Barr. Andrew Orugbo, a house of representative aspirant under the platform of UDP as well as other notable DPP leaders and party faithful.
