A swarm of honey bees attacked PDP delegates waiting to be accredited and passed into the Ughelli township stadium where the primary election to produce the flag bearer for the party’s Udu/Ughelli federal constituency seat was held, Saturday, Dec. 7.

As the delegates waited patiently and orderly to be cleared by the police at the gate of the stadium, pandemonium was noticed at the East-West Road adjacent to the stadium as people were running helter- skelter and promptly it was affirmed that irate honey bees were on the loose.

The honey bees made a target motion to the gate of the stadium where the police were conducting the orderly pass of the delegates and on hearing that the moving swarm was a troop of honey bees, everybody, including the police, delegates and journalists ran out of the way of the attackers.

But the bees seemed to know where they were going and without wasting time soon arrived at the stadium gate.

Some gallant policemen, believing delegates and the DPO of the Ughelli however stood their ground, brought out handkerchiefs and other clothing to wave off the bees as the delegates and other people around the venue shouted blood of Jesus.

The shout seemed to emasculate the honey bees which later settled at a thicket by the gate and maintained their peace before the delegates went into the stadium to do the business of the day.
