Gunmen abduct traditional ruler in Edo state

It has been reported that unidentified gun men have abducted a Benin traditional ruler; the Enogie of Ukhiri, HRH Aigbe in lkpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The heavily armed men numbering five on Saturday at about 8 pm stormed the Enogie’s palace on Benin-Abraka road.
They were said to have shot sporadically into the air before abducting him from his living room to an unknown destination.
Reliable sources said that the gun men arrived in an unregistered car which they set ablaze before taking their victim in his Nissan Sunny car driving through the Abraka road end towards Delta State.
The traditional ruler is said to had recently been engulfed in serious disagreement over alleged land issues with some of the community youths who consequently have dared his authority.
The youths few days before the abduction had allegedly attacked the Enogie in his Palace destroying several properties as they threatened his life.
In reaction, he wrote a petition to the police raising alarm about his safety copy which was made available to the media.
The Enogie is a retired Chief Superintendent of police, and a lawyer. He ascended the throne few years ago.
The police have since moved into action to rescue him unhurt.
