Aisha Falode, the chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria over the team’s qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

A statement by her Media Adviser, Dapo Sotuminu, said Falode commended the Eagles’ heroics after a very tough challenge from the Chipolopolo of Zambia.

She said: “Alex Iwobi’s wonderful strike was well deserved and it came at a time Nigerians expected the Eagles’ stars to nail the opponent to the cross.

“The goal scored in the 73rd minute came as a result of perfect team work which existed in the Eagles right from the first qualifiers in Ndola against Zambia.”

The NWFL boss also congratulated the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board for motivating the team during the qualifiers such that the Eagles emerged the first African team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals with one outstanding match.

“The last time this happened to the Eagles was ahead of the France 98 World Cup. With what the Eagles displayed on Saturday in Uyo, it was clear the team’s glory days are back
