Mr Collins Eselemo

The APC candidate for Bomadi/Patani federal constituency in the 2019 general election, Mr Collins Eselemo is in police net over issues related to fraud.

Mr Eselemo was said to have been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The arrest followed allegation of a dud cheque said to have been issued by Mr Eselemo to a cement dealer, Mr David Ikpuru who is based in Okwagbe waterside in Ughelli South LGA.

The cement dealer had petitioned Mr Eselemo to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) through the police Area Command in Ughelli alleging that Mr Eselemo falsely obtained 500 bags of Dangote cement worth 250,000 NGN with a dud cheque.

A police source who plead anonymity, said efforts to get Mr Eselemo arrested in Delta have been futile until the police got wind of his presence  in the FCT where he was promptly arrested and cooling off in police custody as investigation on the matter commences.

The petition signed by Mr Ikpuru and made available to journalists alleged that Mr Eselemo issued a Diamond now Bank Access  cheque on Sept 10, 2014 after a transaction but that the cheque bounced at the point of presentation  at the bank]s counter.

He noted that since then Collins Eselemo has been evasive and that his business has suffered a lot of setbacks as he could no longer meet up financially to the dictates of demands.

Mr Eselemo before his arrest had maintained that, he never bought cement from Mr Ikpuru and he only purchase shovels, diggers, binding wire through his uncle Mr.Vicas from him and he has paid substantial amount to his account.

“I know, I have little to balance to give to him. And we could not come to a compromise because of disagreement on the balance which is a far cry from what he is claiming”.

Mr. Anjuguri Mamza , Police public Relations officer to the Federal Capital Territory FCT when contacted by phone declined knowledge of the arrest since the matter has not been brought to his purview.
