Efe Duke joins race for DTHA, declares intent in Jeremi
By Jon Egie
The APC in Ughelli South LGA received a boost when Mr Henry Efe Duku, a staunch prop of Chief Great Ogboru and senior legislative aide to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege declared his intent to contest the seat of Ughelli South in the Delta State House of Assembly; Saturday, August 18 at the APC secretariat in Otujeremi.
Making the declaration before a mammoth crowd of members of APC and their leaders, Mr Efe Duku said his interest in aspiring to become the representative of the people of the local government area in the DTHA was to join force with the progressives in improving the welfare of the people of the local government area which hitherto had been bastardized by PDP misrule and misrepresentation by PDP legislators.
He told the people of Ughelli South that the PDP feel unchallenged in their craze of misrule and misrepresentation but assured that the era of PDP impunity was gone.
“I tell you, we will confront them and make our case clear. The days of PDP are gone in this local government area. We will be coming to you individually; we will make our case to you because we know who we are.”
His speech was greeted with a loud ovation as the people hailed and echoed his declaration that the days of PDP were gone in Ughelli South.
PDP has produced the member representing the local government area in the DTHA since 1999 excepting when Hon Eme Mukoro who went on the platform of the DPP had a stint but was kicked out by a Court Judgment in favour of PDP.
The declaration of Efe Duku that the days of PDP were gone in the LG was greeted with joy especially when the people have had little or nothing to tell about the PDP representation of the area over the years.
But the enthusiasm that was associated with the declaration was cut short when a group of aggrieved youths attempted to scuttle the event over certain unsettled issues..
Mr Collins Mukoro, Chairman of APC in Ughelli South quickly rose to the occasion and arrested the situation with a charge on the youths to use the same verve and vigour to secure victory for the party during the 2019 election.
The aggrieved youths were later contacted by Mr Efe Duku and leadership of the party and the issues were amicably resolved with the leadership of the youths pledging their support for the aspiration of Efe Duku and to secure victory for Chief Great Ogboru and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
In an interview, the Director General of the Efe Duku Campaign team, Hon Ambrose Oyovwe vowed to carry out a robust and effective grassroots mobilization to ensure that the aspirant secured the party ticket and won the general election.
