Edojakwa reiterates political zoning Accord in Ughelli South, sues compliance
By Vincent Ogbunisi Onyeisi
A political leader, onetime 1987 Deputy Council Chairman of old Ughelli Local Government Area and a PDP stalwart, Olorogun (Hon) Jonathan Edojakwa JP from Ewu axis in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State has said that Ughelli South would continue to maintain the 1987 zoning of elective political offices’ accord reached between Ewu, Olomu and Ughievwen axis in Ughelli South Local Government Area which saw him and late James Mrakpor as the deputy council chairman and Executive chairman of the old Ughelli council Area respectively.
Olorogun Jonathan Edojakwa JP, (Ogbavwudu of Ewu Kingdom) stated this in an interview with newsmen while reacting to plans by some few persons to change the standing zoning arrangement which he said has brought peace, unity and even development and also made Ughelli South almost a one PDP party system devoid of “Do-or-Die” political affairs.
While describing the said plans as very misleading and a calculated attempt to destroy the united and existing political structure of Ughelli South Local Government Area, Chief (Hon.) Edojakwa JP called on the good people of Ughelli South, PDP led Government of Delta State and Nigeria at large to disregard the purported arrangement which he noted was not made in good faith and not also representing the popular voice or the general populace of Ughelli South but a section of some selfish individuals whose aims were to cause rancor and disunity in the most peaceful and united Local Government Area in Delta State and Nigeria Delta Region at large.
The old time political leader, Hon. Edojakwa explained that those who are behind this, are doing so for themselves only, as it is not binding on the entire people of Ughelli South, particularly the people of Ewu and Ughievwen axis because according to him, it is the turn of Ughievwen people to go and represent the people of Ughelli South at the Delta State House of Assembly come 2019 and not the Olomu axis based on the same result oriented zoning agreement which has existed since 1987 to date.
He emphasized that if at all the old arrangement has to be altered; an enlarged (general) meeting of the three axis of Ewu, Olomu and Ughievwen of Ughelli South Local Government Area should be called.
The PDP political stalwart, Olorogun Edojakwor pointed out that the zoning arrangement has brought peace and unity in the politics of Ughelli South and advised that some few persons with personal interest should not cause disunity in Ughelli South, maintaining that in 2019 political dispensation, it is the turn of Ughievwen people to project viable person for the State House and Ewu person for the National House of Representative and not Olomu axis having given Olomu people the opportunity to occupy the office of the Ughelli South Council Chairmanship seat, Ughievwen and Ewu axis should be allowed to also take their turn at the States House and Federal House of representative respectively.
He therefore urged politicians in Ughelli South Council Area to allow peace reign with the already laid down zoning system and possibly change it when necessary with the collective voice of every one inclusive in the interest of peace, unity, harmony and even development in the three axis of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
