Save us from the continued invasion and sales of our ancestral land by our neighbor: People of Okeze village before we go into extinction.

This was the despair cry of the people of Oke – ohiamwan village, Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo State in a briefing with select journalists on Monday in Benin.

They plead with the Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare II to urgently intervene as they fear imminent extinction if nothing is done in the prevailing situation.

Elders of Oke – ohiamwan led by the odionwere (Village Head), Pa. Odemwingie Odefiagbon lament that the people have all fled their home for safety due to incessant attack by their alleged tormentor; Okeze people.

Oke – ohianmwan village land which extend deep across the Benin – Agbor road has been reduced to mere small circle and now takes resemblance of a ghost land courtesy; the invasion and unrestricted sale of their Land they lament.

Historically, both villages had communal relationship until 2008 when Oke – ohianmwan people registered the now banned Community Development Association with the State Government.

Okeze people got angry that they were not consulted before the action was executed and that marks the beginning of travail of Oke – ohianmwan people it was alleged.

Eventually, both villages ended up in court and later in the Oba’s Palace.

The issue had lingered until it was re – visited in October 2017 by Oba Ewuare N’ Ogidigan II.

But the matter seems stalemated as it has not been given attention ever since they complained.

People of Okeze have sold almost all the land mass of Oke – ohianmwan village even including that which belongs to the Oba it was alleged.

One Osaretin Igbinawahia said to be youths’ Chairman allegedly leads the Okeze onslaught against Oke – ohianmwan.

Though effort to reach him for reaction failed but when Odionwere of Okeze Pulley Aguobarueghian was contacted by our reporter at the time of filing this story, he declined comment
