Edo CP parades criminal suspects, commends members of public for support

Police Commissioner, Edo State Command Johnson Babatunde Kokumo has commended members of the public for always availing it useful information in the fight against crime and criminality.
Kokumo made the commendation last Friday in Benin, at the State Police Command Headquaters while parading total of 102 criminal suspects before the media.
He expressed happiness that the information received have always yielded the desired result.
The CP appealed for continued partnership as he assured that every information received would be treated with uttermost secrecy.
The suspects paraded were involved in various crimes ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism among others.
Some of them are resident in the State while others made incursion into the State from neighboring states, he said.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from them, including materials worth millions of naira, he added.
Kokumo assured that very soon the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
Also paraded among the suspects, was 77 year old man over alleged sale of a piece of land to two different buyers at Ugbor area of the City.
The accused, who gave his name as Osarumwense Osahon said his first son Kingsley now late earlier sold the land to a woman without his knowledge.
But he discovered when he sold the same land to another buyer at the cost of N2.5m to facilitate the travel of his second son abroad.
He said the buyer demanded refund of his money which he promised but was not patient.
He consequently arrested him at about 6p.m and was paraded the following morning among other criminal suspects.
Notably, nearly all the criminal suspects are youths. They showed no sign of remorse even as they were being paraded.
