The Rt. Rev Vincent Muoghere (rtd) has charged the people of Uwheru to drink more water rather than alcohol for the sake of their health.

He gave the advice during the occasion of the commissioning ceremony of Ufuoma Table Water situated along Uwheru/Patani Road, Uwheru, Sat., Jan.16

The cleric in a brief sermon during the ceremony recalled his youthful experience in Uwheru where the only source of drinking water was puddle, ponds, streams and wells. At that time the natives barely cared about the health hazards associated with the water they drank from these sources which were littered with decomposing and floating leaves that were cleared off to collect the water.

Although the water from those sources were adjudged polluted but the common conviction was diseases had no effect on the black man’s health, a fallacy.

He said life has gone beyond that stage of thinking and people are now aware that if one drank polluted water he could become sick and that good water promotes healthy living.

The Bishop stressed the need for consumption of good water when he cited the biblical instance where Prophet Elisha purified water for the people to drink.

He noted that the Ufuoma Table Water factory, apart from its economic advantage, is also an encouragement for the health of the people of Uwheru who he exhorted to drink more water in place of alcohol. He encourage the Uwheru people to support the company by patronage and charged the employees of the company to be dedicated and committed to the growth and development of the company so that it could open more windows of employment opportunities for indigenes and non-indigenes of Uwheru.

President of Urhobo Social Club, Chief Simeon Owhofa speaking during the occasion called on Uwheru indigenes to protect the table water factory so as to encourage other persons to invest in Uwheru.

Earlier in a welcome address, Comrade Ufuoma Adjarho, Manager of the Ufuoma Table Water said the company is a subsidiary of Westcoast Global Services Ltd and that it has commenced production of 50cl, 75cl and 150cl bottled water in addition to sachets. He assured that the water is fit for drinking and approved for human consumption by NAFDAC.
