Dec. 5 : PDP charges Bayelsans to resist intimidation
By Jon Egie
PDP National Acting Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, has charged the people of Bayelsa State to resist any form of intimidation during the Dec. 5, governorship election in the state.
He gave the charge during the occasion of the mega rally and presentation of flag to Gov Seriake Dickson as the candidate of the PDP for the election at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa; Saturday, Nov. 28.
Speaking during the rally, Secondus accused PMB of running a corrupt government and alleging that the APC government through the SGF was mobilising fund for Timipreye Sylva to rig the election.
“I can tell you APC is corrupt. They are coming with card readers that have been tampered with, they are coming with fake police and fake soldiers, I charge you to stand firm to resist any fake government official and their wrong doing. We are aware that they plan to arrest PDP leaders few days before the election, stand firm and resist any arrest within a few days to the election.
“You must queue up and take a firm stand that you must vote in your unit, be strong, power belongs to God and God has destined Dickson to remain as governor.”
Th e acting national chairman used the opportunity to receive thousands of APC members who decamped to the PDP and directed them to throw down their brooms and replaced them with umbrellas.
Speaking the leader of the decampees whose name was not immediately disclosed said the entire members of the APC in Bayelsa were now aware of the deceit associated with the party and having assessed the performance and development stride of Gov Dickson, they decided to retraced their steps to the PDP and assured a 100 percent support to PDP during the Dec 5, election.
Responding after the party flag had been handed over to him, Gov Dickson said the mega rally and flag presentation rounded off the community to community campaign of the PDP across the state.
“As a country man I slept in some of the communities and in all the communities across the state the report I got is that the people of Bayelsa state say there is no vacancy for APC in Bayelsa. They have rejected Sylva and his APC in Bayelsa. They say that the APC should celebrate if Sylva wins his own ward in Okwoma. We have sensitised our people to vote for their future, they are molesting our people but we want peace.
We will defeat them loud and clear. Federal might does not vote. Do not allow any body to come and intimidate you, those people who will come with different uniforms are not an extension or arms of the APC, Any one that performs according to the rule cooperate with him but do not allow any one to intimidate you.
“Sylva will only be remembered for killing and cultism and we have taken a position to reject Sylva and his terrorism, he intimidated and shot at his own party men, he is preparing fake police and fake soldiers when you identify any of them tie them down and if the FG fails to deal with them we will do so.
“Sylva does not have a hut in Nembe, he has no house in Okwoma his hometown, none in Brass and Yenagoa; he does not believe in Bayelsa, he ran a government of wayo and they are still deceiving people. I urge you to work together for peace and for all those who want peace in Nigeria I want to warn that Bayelsa people will resist any form of intimidation by any person or group of persons during the election” Dickson said.
Earlier, former President Goodluck Jonathan urged Bayelsans to vote for their liberation, development of the state and for their posterity.
Claiming all the governorship candidates in the state to be his children in his capacity as a former President of the FRN, he however said he was convinced that Gov Dickson has a plan for the development of Bayelsa state beyond the present level and hence urged the people of Bayelsa to support him.
