Card reader fails to recognize Dickson

It was mixed feelings, as Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa when for the accreditation, as the card reading machine created delay, as it took long before the machine recognized the fingerprint of the governor.
Speaking at his hometown, at the Sagbama 06 ward 2, polling unit Oruerware, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate, Governor Dickson, who arrived his polling unit at 10:40am complained that inspire of the test running of the machine and the assurances from INEC, the device found it difficult to recognize his fingerprint.
The Governor lamented the hitch, saying ” I hope we don’t continue to portray ourself and country as unserious before the international communities.
He noted that report gotten so far, was that of brutality and mayhem unleashed on PDP members in Brass, Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
Dickson particularly mentioned the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri as mastermind of the mayhem in Ekeremor LGA.
Dissatisfied with the exercise, Dickson said that he is not convinced with the steps that the federal controlled security is taken to ensure free, fair and credible election.
Said he “I am not convinced with the steps taken by the federal controlled security in ensuring a free, fair and credible election.”
Dickson reiterated that during his campaign, he had always enjoined his supporters and the electorates, as well as the opposition party to respect the sanctity of life and conduct themselves peacefully during and after the election.
“I and my party have always sued for peace in the state, while the other side (APC) are not prepare for the peaceful conduct of the exercise, rather they are prepared for war” Dickson submitted.
He went on to say that in some areas the mayhem were committed under the protection security agencies.
Dickson, hope that appropriate steps is taken to control the mayhem to ensure that the election is conducted peacefully in the state.
The Governor, however, commend the people of the state for their resilience, that inspire of the delay caused by the card reading machine and the security situations, voters ( Bayelsans) came out to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, State Police Commissioner, Nasiri Oki in a phone call said that in Southern Ijaw and Okpoama some arrest were made and arms and ammunitions were recovered, even as he assured that the police is in control if the situation.
In Ekeremor and Yenagoa LGA, materials were delayed to Ogosi 009 polling unit, as the Electoral Officer got the ward headquarters, ward 16 in Yenagoa late, polling unit 14, accreditation was delayed due to late arrival of materials.
Impeccable source, at Ekeremor, said there was shooting at the early hours of 7:30am to 8:30am that delayed the accreditation of voters and materials and at 9: am voters came out for the accreditation and that the turnout was impressive.
In Southern Ijaw, there are flashes of violence, but report at our disposal indicates that accreditation has begun with impressive turnout.
In Ogbia, there is a tussle, as loyalists of the opposition turn down overtures to vote for PDP Governorship Candidate, Governor Dickson, while others queue behind former President Goodluck Jonathan to vote for the PDP.
The situation is tensed in Nembe LGA at the early hours, but security presence calm down situation, and allowed for voters accreditation, though some remain indoor, while others came out to exercise their franchise.
