Flowing from the outcome of the April 26, polls we wish to congratulate Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru members of his DPP and his teeming supporters across the state for the matured manner they reacted to the result of the governorship election as declared by INEC.

Although there were initial pockets of peaceful protest across the state, these were indications of how vexed the people were at the frustration allegedly conjured by INEC and in spite of these responses, the leadership of the DPP was able to place its followers under control and no case of fatal violence was recorded.

We appreciate the decision of the DPP to seek redress at the court. That is how it should be and we encourage others who would face similar situations in future to take a cue from the DPP. Bravo Ogboru.

We also wish to congratulate Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan on his victory as declared by INEC and to state that we admire his humility in accepting the plea by Papa Ayo Oritsejafor to reach out to the opposition in order to move the state forward.

We advocate that whichever side of the coin shows, before and after the election petitions are heard and decided by the tribunal, the governor must endeavour to play the role of a father and continue to make effort to unite Delta and move the state forward. Well done, Uduaghan.
