Alile resigns APC membership
By Fred Onobrorhie, Benin
Following what he observed as continued misnomer in the handling of affairs of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party in Edo State, former councilor and founder, Pius Alile Coalition Initiatives, Hon. Pius Alile has decided to resign his membership.
Hon. Alile who nurses the aspiration of picking the ticket of the party to run for the House of Representatives, Egor/Ikpoba – Okha Federal Constituency in 2019 made the disclosure in a press release dated 27 October, 2017, signed by him and made available to our Correspondent in Benin.
He said the APC could not be trusted to provide a level playing ground, fairness and equal opportunity for divergent interest in the party.
A situation he considered as contrary to the spirit of democracy and not in the public interest.
According to him, “the party has been hijacked at the local government by few people. The party no longer holds meetings at the local government secretariat but in the house of a leader of the party in the area.
“And the party leadership has done nothing to address this abnormality which has caused a serious division and faction in the party at the local government and ward levels.
“As a result, interest groups, individuals and party members are no longer accommodated in the scheme of things in the party.
“The party is now being perceived by many, including myself as one governed and run in secrets.
He was however silent on his next destination or whether he was quitting politics entirely
