Agaga Erugba community set to secede from Uvwie kingdom over threat to life and heritage
By John Oburhie.
Faced by threat to life and attempt to convert their ancestral heritage by some highly placed persons, the people of Agaga Erugba community of Uvwie are poised to pull out of the Uvwie kingdom, Spy News has learnt.
President General of the community, Prince Agaga Christopher in a press statement made available to our correspondent in Effurun warned that the community is considering the option of going back to Igbidi district under the present Agbarha kingdom in Warri South LGA or joins the people of Udu kingdom in Udu LGA.
In an SOS petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, Mr Agaga said the community’s action stemmed from fear that some undisclosed persons have been contacted to deal with by all means and even kill Agaga Agbaisi children with the intention of taking their parcel of land, a layout.
He therefore appealed to the IGP and all relevant authority to come to their aid.
He said the official gazetting of Agaga layout as a community was done in good faith by his father, the late monarch Uvwie monarch to discourage Enerhen from having a separate LGA.
“We did not beg to become a community, it was a way of compensating my father for the role he played in the Enrhen crisis but we regret that role today” he lamented.
If they continue to threaten us by forcefully imposing Effurun people on us we shall be left with no option than to join Agbarha kingdom or Udu kingdom.
He recalled that the problem started sometimes in 2012 between him and his late brother, Mr Paul Agaga that led to the formation of an interim management committee which included the Effurun people producing a peaceful and harmonious relationship that put an elected executive in place.
He called on the IGP and the relevant authorities to investigate his claims and the allegation that some highly placed individuals and politicians have recruited thugs to deal with them by all means and that they would be ready to defend themselves with the last drop of their blood should their threat be carried out.
It was learnt that the community leader has since gone underground for fear of the unknown
