SOACREL is an Abuja based registered Civil Society Organization and affiliate of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), European Union (EU), African Union (AU), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
Director General of the organizatio, Amb. Dr. Jonny Ben, said SOACREL has the mandate and objective of propagating credibility in leadership and good governance with elements of social democracy at all levels in line with the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability.
In his address, the director – general, disclosed that Aghedo was discovered through the network of SOACREL research team having satisfied the established requirements.
SOACREL unlike many other organizations that delight in portraying the bad image of Nigeria; “we are dedicated to showcasing the good image of Nigeria to the world by recognizing and appreciating good works of great personalities in the country,” he asserted.
In that light, SOACREL was satisfied with the Village Head’s immense contribution to peace and development in Nigeria, and beyond.
Also, his advancement of moral values through the development and practice of peace, Ben added.
On the recognition and award, the director – general said; “This is our own form of encouragement to credible leaders whose lives exemplify the ideals of living for the sake of others and have dedicated themselves to providing credible leadership predicated on peace and human development for nation building.”
Ben said research reveals that Aghedo brought his education, exposure, and experience as retired police officer to bear on being a rare gem as custodian of tradition.
A virtue, he noted, has enabled the Village Head to hold his people together in an atmosphere of peace not only within, but with neighbors; even in the face of daunting challenges.
87 year old Aghedo is the Odionwere (traditional administrative Head) of Igueogboe Autonomous Village, Ovia – North – East local Government Council Area of the State.
The elated Village Head in response said the award was no doubt a mark of great recognition of works done without knowing that he was being monitored.
Dedicating it to God Almighty, the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewure II, and his people, he said he will only be spurred to be on track, and do more for humanity all the days of his life. He enjoined Nigerians to be patriotic, and always emulate that which is good.
