Yellow House scored a total of 179 points to come top of the 21st inter house athletic sports competition of Otovwodo primary school, Ughelli; Thursday, March 31.

Red House garnered 174 points to become the runner-up while Purple secured the 3rd position with 111 points.

The 4th, 5th and 6th positions were grabbed by Pink (109), Blue (104) and Green (100) respectively.

In an address, the Head teacher of the school, Mrs Agberia B.A. appreciated the contribution of the patrons of various houses that led to the success of the athletic sports competition.

“We want to specially thank Hon Barr Mrs MudiagaErhue who donated all the trophies in use today”.

She informed that the school was in dire need of a source of pipe-borne water as the pupils are often exposed to the rsik of accident when they cross the express road to fetch water.

According to the head teacher, the school enrollment has shot up in recent time and the need to provide more desks and benches has arisen. She also called on stakeholders and relevant authorities to ensure that the completed six classroom block in the school is opened for accommodation by the pupils to decongest the overcrowded classrooms.

She appreciated the cooperation of Otovwodo community leadership, parents and guardians of the school pupils in helping to move the school forward.

Responding, the chairman of the occasion, Hon Prince Eric Oharisi (member representing Ughelli constituency 11, DTHA) represented by his SA, Hon Jim Omokovo commended the effort of the school authority for organising the sports meet.

He promised to construct a bore hole in the school as a source of potable water for the pupils and staff. He assured that he would channel the other requests of the school to the appropriate quarters for prompt action.
