2019: Buhari will not rig he would rather prefer to lose fair and square – Presidency
By Abavo Kingsley
President Muhammadu Buhari will not rig the 2019 general elections, the Presidency has assured adding he would rather lose.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina gave the reassurance on Arise Television programme.
Adesina gave the reassurance in reaction to the fears expressed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in connivance with the Independent Electoral Commission INEC were plotting to rig.
“I am surprised that this President has been with you for three and half years and yet you do not seem to know him. If anybody would rig election or anything, it will not be President Muhammadu Buhari. He would rather even prefer to lose fair and square.
“He has even said it before that the only thing he would leave as a legacy for Nigeria is free and fair elections, he would do it.
Continuing, Adesina stated, “PDP is down and will remain there for a very long time, so I would rather not talk about them.
“The ‘Next level is about deepening what is happening in the country. It is about consolidating on what is being done; it is about making progress and advancing on what we are doing now. That is the sum total of it.
“So in the next dispensation, security, economy and infrastructure will continue to receive attention and there will be additional ones in the documents.”
The PDP had criticised the ‘Next Level’ document: proposed policies and programmes of Buhari for second term in office, saying it failed to articulate any solution.
